Location, City of Aalborg
Aalborg is a beautiful and lively city steeped in history and rich in great experiences. With its magnificent location by the banks of the rolling Limfjord, Aalborg is the capital city of North Jutland. In addition, Aalborg is the largest conference centre in the Danish provinces and Aalborg Congress & Culture Centre is the site of a large number of congresses, meetings, exhibitions and cultural events.
Aalborg hosts a number of historical sites and it is worthwhile to allow time for a walk through the city of Aalborg and visit historical sites such as Jens Bangs Stenhus which is a five-storied Renaissance structure dating from 1624 – located at Nytorv, which is the heart of Aalborg City. Right next to Jens Bangs Stenhus you will find the old Town Hall and Budolfi Chuch, which is a 15th century cathedral open to the public. It is also worthwhile to visit Aalborghus Castle dating back to 1555. The castle still serves as state administration, but there is open access to the courtyard.
Right across from Aalborghus Castle you will find the most recent landmark of Aalborg, which is the Utzon Center located at the waterfront. The internationally acclaimed architect Jørn Utzon grew up in Aalborg and the Utzon Centre is a tribute to his work and serves as an exhibition, art and conference centre. The centre is open daily and offers guided tours.
Nordkraft
The symposium dinner on the 25th of October will take place at another Aalborg landmark, namely Nordkraft. Up until recently Nordkraft served as a back up power plant, but recently it has been restored into a cultural meeting point for mainly music, theatre and entertainment.
