IAIA08 Conference Proceedings
Welcome to the (peer reviewed) proceedings of IAIA08 The Art and Science of Impact Assessment, 28th Annual Conference of the International Association for Impact Assessment held on the 4–10 May 2008, Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre in Perth, Western Australia.
Each of the full-text conference papers presented in these online proceedings was subjected to a double-blind peer review process by two independent reviewers. The list of reviewers is provided here. The reviewer comments were provided to authors and their final paper provided in response is what appears in the proceedings - no further editing was conducted. The papers are relatively short (5 pages typically) and are intended to share important lessons learnt from impact assessment theory and practice with an international audience.
The remaining elements of the IAIA08 Conference Proceedings (plenary speeches, session reports, social, sustainability assessments of IAIA08 and accounts of technical tours and other events) were not part of the peer review process.
Management of the peer review process was conducted by the Co-Chairs of the IAIA08 Program Coordination Committee; Jenny Pope (Director, Integral Sustainability) and Angus Morrison-Saunders (Senior Lecturer in Environmental Assessment, Murdoch University).
The IAIA08 Conference Proceedings are laid out according to the original conference program with the Topic Streams providing the main structure for grouping the papers.
